At present over 170 million people are living with diabetes, one of the most common metabolic disorders in humans,across the globe. The rate of new cases of diabetes soared by about 90 percent in the United States in the past decade, fueled by growing obesity and sedentary lifestyles.It was found there is no end in sight to the diabetes epidemic.Newly diagnosed cases of diabetes rose to 9.1 per 1,000 people annually between 2005 to 2007, up from 4.8 per 1,000 from 1995 to 1997.
